유령 여행사

유령여행사는 2016년 6월부터 한시적으로 군산의 사라진 섬들을 안내하는 여행사 프로젝트이다.
군산지역의 섬들은 1880년대까지만 해도 71개 였으나 간척공사와 새만금사업으로 인해 12개 섬이 없어져 현재 유인도 14개와 무인도45개 등 모두 59개만 남아있다. 그리고 섬들의 육지화는 계속 진행중이다.
작은 동산으로 밖에 남아있지 않은 섬들은 상업적 개발로 그 목소리를 잃어버리고 점점 장소감을 상실하고 무장소화 되었다. 무장소화 된 섬들은 전설이 되고 소문이 되고, 조각난 이미지가 되어 유령처럼 거대한 공단 사이로 떠돌아다닌다.
21일 동안 운영하는 유령여행사에서는 간척의 역사와 함께 사라진 4개의 섬과 하나의 신대륙을 찾아 조금은 낯설고 기이한 여정을 떠나본다.

Ghost Travel Agency

Ghost Travel Agency is a project that takes one to a journey to disappeared islands of Gunsan for a limited period from June 2016.
Gunsan’s registered islands counted up to 71 in 1880, but after various land reclamation works and Saemangeum Project, only 59 remain, of which only 14 are occupied by residents. On some of these remaining islands, land reclamation work continues on.
Handful of islands which are nothing more than small mounds above the water surface are losing their place, pushed to the brink by commercial developments. These islands become legends and rumors, shredded into fragmented images wandering around colossal industrial complexes like a ghost.
The 21-day old ghost travel agency takes on a strange and unfamiliar journey to find a new continent with the four islands that has disappeared into history.
